About
The Western Australian Youth Strings (WAYS) Orchestra provides a wonderful opportunity for primary school aged children to develop their musical talent within a Strings Orchestra.
JWAYS is a strings orchestra comprised of primary school aged players, nominally in years 3-6. The orchestra has been fortunate in having the ongoing services of Ms Sarah Clare as Musical Director. Ms Clare is a highly skilled musician and passionate teacher and orchestra leader.
Orchestra members learn about the requirements for playing in an orchestra. They also have the opportunity to play before audiences and participate in events organised for the WAYS community. It is an ideal stepping stone into WAYS. JWAYS performs at least four times a year.
WAYS is a strings orchestra comprised of upper primary and early high school aged players, nominally in years 5 – 8. It is under the musical direction of internationally renowned Mr Ashley Arbuckle, OAM. Mr Arbuckle encourages and educates student members in the key disciplines necessary to successfully play within an orchestra.
WAYS offers the opportunity to play before large audiences. The Orchestra performs at least five times a year, including at Government House and the IGA Carols by Candlelight at Supreme Court Gardens, as well as giving back to the community through local events.
Placements are now CLOSED for 2019. Auditions for 2020 will held in November 2019.
